Most smartphones include Skype which is a website in which people can chat with each other via webcam. But on a phone it is different. On a phone you can chat or call a person whether they are on their laptop or not. Facebook is getting the trend and is making it available to chat with friends too. It was only a matter of time before Facebook would have this app being the dominant social network.
I am indiffernt to the situation. I have the Skype app on my phone but I see it pointless to call someone via Skype rather than using the phone the old fashion way, dialing the number. Most of your contacts in your phone are the same friends you have on FB. I don't really see what's so fascinating about this app, it's not like you can see the person on your phone rather than the laptop like Face Time on the iPhone. I really feel as though this is a waste and that Facebook should'nt even participate, but when trying to be on top and reign supreme you have to do usless things sometimes

Self Assessment
I think that I am contributing to the study of new media because I using up to date articles about new media that would attract the interest of anyone into it. My blog is helpful in analyzing current new media trends because I use kairos and I relate it into plain terms so that people any age could understand what the article is about. I could improve my blog by posting blogs more regularly, using picture/ videos, making it more attractive to the eyes. My experience so far has been good. I like the idea of a blog and posting your opinions on a topic. This is my first blog and it could be a prelude to a real one. My strength is that I make sure that I incorporate my opinion and side on the article. My weakness could be posting blogs late or not following the guidelines of grammer in my blogs.
Blog #4-Its time for some digital spring cleaning
Spring is here and while this is the time to bring out the sunscreen and take that trip to the beach to soak up the sun, this is also the time to "spring clean". But also why you are cleaning out your closets and garages, you should think about cleaning you Facebook or other social media websites.
Many people put inappropiate pictures or status' or have friends that put these things on this the social website. When people post these things they don't think about the effect that it can have in the future. I have witnessed many people putting up explict pictures and lude or crude status' and I find myself asking "Would you show your parents this?" People don't take into consideration who could be seeing the things they put on the Internet. Being in college, I feel that people should be more aware of what they or someone else post that could affect them in a negative way. Having a picture with a red cup in your hand with a bunch of people in the background is not a good look and can hinder your chances of getting an internship or job. So, it is very important to sanction what you and others post that could affect your life.

Blog #3- How Much is Facebook Really Worth?
Facebook. The phenomena that has taken the U.S. and now the world by storm. Facebook is thought to be worth $50 billion, but no one is really sure what this growing empire is worth or what their revenue is. People just think that Facebook has the potential to be worth $50 billion in the future. Rushkoff says, that Facebook would have to be a permanent fixture. The people are the ones that keep Facebook going so the real fortune comes from them. By letting Facebook users know where we are going, what we are doing, etc. So the people are what keep Facebook alive.
I can believe that Facebook is worth $50 billion because it is consuming. Basically, everybody and their mama have a Facebook. Young people as old as nine have Facebook accounts and older people as old as sixty, even though it was intended for college students. I'm sure that Facebook will continue to grow and progress because people are fascinated by it. When many people endorse or support a product and that product begins to grow the wealth of that product also increases-its an exponential growth.

Blog #2- What's Behind Androids race to No.1
Google's Android is on the rise to being the best and fastest smartphone in the U.S. Android is number 1 in the U.S. with a 31.2% of the market. People are attracted to Android's for various reasons: they come with many different versions of smartphones, to be exact there are 170 total, whereas; there is only one smartphone AT&T is producing which is the IPhone, Android's allow you to surf the web through voice recognition, Android's has 150,000 apps compared to the iPhone which has 350,000.
I have an Android smartphone and I find it to be very fast and efficient, although I would have thought that the iPhone would have been the best smartphone. Everytime I find something new own my phone I get excited about how high-tech it it. Being able to text and/or go on the Internet by using voice recognition excites me everytime to know how "smart" this phone is. Having my phone come with apps such as a GPS, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo, etc makes it convienent to recieve notifications. I find having various phones that are high tech is better rather than just one. Honestly, I get tired of seeing everybody with an iPhone all the time, but with an Android you don't see the same phone you see an array of them. Although, I get frustrated with the touch screen being slow and hitting things that I didn't press, I wouldn't trade it.

Blog #1- News Outlets drive Twitter trends
Welcome to Twitter, where everybodies business, is everybodies business.Being a new member to the Twitter world, I am fascinated about the concept of people sharing every aspect of their day with one another. Although, I am still unclear about a few things regarding Twitter, like retweeting more than one person, creating your ouwn "pounds", or who decides what the trending topic will be; I am excited to explore and navigate this new sensation.
To my knowledge, I thought the trending topics came from the founders of this addictive social network, but news organizations, such as, CNN, BBC, NY Times are the source of these topics that ignite worldwide conversation. 22 users have the power to come up with these topics that people look forward to everyday. 72% of these 22 users are run by news organizations.
Twitter is not only used for networking, but it also can be informative. With the injustice in Egypt, protestors have came up with their own trending topic, #Mubarak. I am becoming more and more intrigued with Twitter and find myself browsing through status' and creating my own daily tweets. Maybe one day I will be able to create a trending topic?http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/social.media/02/14/twitter.trends.fast/index.html
